THE OAK CONFERENCE TABLE
Big builds are always fun, and they don't get much bigger than this conference table we designed and made for a companies meeting room in Leeds.
Our customer came to us with some rough dimensions, and a vague idea of what they wanted, and we took it from there.
The first step in custom designs tends to be a scale 3d model of the initial design, which allows us to see how the dimensions work together, to get a feel for how it will sit in the room, and also the basic way we'll actually construct it.
From there it's down to material choices and finishes, and here our customer went for solid 50mm European oak sitting on steel legs with exposed welds and clear powder coat.
The final step in the design process is the extras, the little touches, the hot sauce if you like! For this table that ment flush mounted, pop up power points, with all the cabling being routed through the legs and therefore being completely hidden from view.
The result: Well the photo speaks for itself. Practical, stylish, and will last a lifetime.
We don't often get a chance to do full commercial designs and fit outs, but when we do, we jump at the opportunity!
Yorkshire Vintners is a well established wine merchant in Ripon, North Yorkshire, and at the time we met they solely delt with the on trade (restaurants, hotels, bars etc). They had a spare space in their warehouse that they envisaged being able to offer a retail option, to allow the general public to walk in, benefit from Yorkshire Vintners expert wine knowledge, and walk out with some excellent wines.
The point of sale (or till area) is critical in a retail environment. It's the one place every customer is guaranteed to visit (hopefully!), and can leave a unique and lasting impression.
That's why we designed them a one off Acier POS stand, with false (non opening) wine crate drawers on the customer side, with 4 push to open wine crate drawers and stacks of solid oak shelves for storage on the staff side. A solid oak top with cable ports for computers and card machines etc, and a solid steel, powder coated frame means it will last forever.
To display their fantastic selection of wines, it was time for an upgrade from their Ikea cube stacks (which lets face it we've all owned at some point!), and introduce 3 huge custom steel and oak display racks, complete with under shelf LED lighting. I'm sure you'll agree they look stunning fully stocked.
Yorkshire Vintners also wanted a tasting area so we added a fully reconditioned wine barrel with solid oak top, 6 Bremer Bay bar stools, a custom steel and oak glass hanging rack, and to finish it all of, you can't go without a Nannup wine clock.
From start to finish this project was a pleasure to work on, and if you are ever in the area do yourself a favor and drop in to the shop and grab a few bottles of wine.
